How To Post Your Study
The Fibromyalgia Network posts clinical trials as a service to patients who wish to participate in current research that could lead to FDA-approved treatments for fibromyalgia.
While we do not want to divulge proprietary data about your study drug or therapy, we wish to protect the privacy of patients who should to be able to inquire about your study without having to first give out personal information.
We will alert patients about these opportunities on our website at no cost, provided the ClinicalTrials.gov or other website posting of your trial contains enough information for patients to determine if they may want to participant and if they have a reasonable chance of being accepted as a participant (i.e., they meet the criteria and do not have any obvious conditions or situations that would exclude them from the study). If you do not have an online posting with all the information below, you may supply us with it for posting on our website. Please note that psychosocial studies are not the focus of our Treatment Studies page and will not be accepted for posting. If you are offering counseling or informational services related to a study, please see our Events page for possible posting.
The Fibromyalgia Network will provide a direct link to your specific trial posting for patients interested in further information.
Ideally, the following questions would be answered by your posting on ClinicalTrials.gov, another online source, or our website:
- Locations (city, state) and contact phone numbers for each treatment trial center (or a single toll-free number) whereby patients may speak to an authority during specified hours about the trial without giving out their personal information first (i.e., a message machine or voice automated system will not suffice)
- Trial duration, including washout periods
- Number of trips to the treatment center that will be required for participation
- Study design and the odds of the patient receiving the active drug or therapy
- The following pertain to enrollment criteria:
- Age range, gender
- Other medical conditions allowed as long as they are being treated
- Other medical conditions not allowed (obviously a long list is not practical but at least offer guidelines for common co-existing conditions that are excluded; this situation may be the case for "b" above in which general guidelines are given)
- Medication classes that may be taken during the study (if none, state so)
- Medication classes or specific drugs that would automatically exclude a patient from being a study participant (understandably, every drug cannot be listed, but at least some general guidelines could be posted)
- General information on the study, such as the Phase and purpose of the study, name of the study agent or device (even if it is just letters and numbers at this point), the delivery method (oral formula, intravenous, intramuscular, surface stimlator, implantable device, etc.), number of participants to be enrolled, and the primary symptom(s) or measure(s) that will be evaluated
In addition to the above information, your study must also have an IRB approval to help protect the safety of patients. You may fax or e-mail us documentation that indicates this is the case. Our fax number is (520) 290-5550. Please specify your name and contact information on everything you fax to us.
Fibromyalgia Network is an ad-free, member-supported organization servicing patients with fibromyalgia, their families and clinicians for 20 years. Our website, www.fmnetnews.com, is the first patient support organization on Google and Yahoo for the search term "fibromyalgia." In addition to a host of support services, we publish a high-quality, 20-page, quarterly Journal and monthly eNews Alerts (approximately five pages of text).
Fibromyalgia Network maintains a database of physician referrals, allied healthcare referrals, and support group leaders - all residing in the United States. In addition, we answer our toll-free line from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each weekday because we know how important it is for patients to have access to speak with another person, not an automated answering machine.
If you wish to post your treatment trial on our website, and the above criteria can be met, please send an e-mail to editor@fmnetnews.com with "Treatment Studies" in the subject line. We are very eager to inform fibromyalgia patients about clinical trial opportunities in their area, but need to protect the privacy of patients when they inquire about the trials that we have posted.
